Flood Callout - 30/12/2015

On the 30th of December, AMRT were called out to aid in a multi agency response to the severe flooding in Aberdeenshire. The majority of the team travelled to Ballater through difficult driving conditions to help with the evacuation of stranded residents, checks on vulnerable persons and general monitoring of the flooded areas. A small number of team members remained in Aboyne to help with transportation of airlifted casualties to medical centres and more monitoring of flooded areas. Police, Fire Service, Coastguard helicopters, Braemar MRT, Cotag 4x4, Swift Water Rescue teams and much of the general public were involved in the response. A huge level of community spirit was witnessed and a massive thanks must be made to the residents of Ballater who looked after evacuees and rescuers at the Victoria Hall.
