January 2019

There's been plenty going at AMRT in January. Charity events, callouts, training...and even a member getting an award from the Queen.

To start the month off we were extremely proud to learn that our very own Mario DiMaio was awarded an MBE in the Queen's new year's honours list. Mario has dedicated over 40 years of his life to being a member of AMRT and we're all delighted that his achievements have seen him recognised for such a prestigious award.

Our first training day of the year took place on the 6th January with members practising working on steep ground in the Corrie of Lochnagar, handling a stretcher. This culminated in a stretcher lowering exercise to keep our skills honed ready for any possible callouts in that type of terrain.

Eight members also took part in the Strathpuffer 24 hour bike race with both teams successfully completing the challenge with a respectable result.

January finished with a callout into the Cairngorms for a walker in the Ben Macdui area. The walker was located with minor injuries by Cairngorm MRT and evacuated, a good outcome.
