June and July 2021

June is the month where you'll find team members clambering up the storage shelves at the base, digging out the great burly canvas bags that contain our marquee, lugging them to a waiting trailer, all ready to be shipped off to a field in the Cairngorms and filled with tea and fine pieces for some of the incredible hill goers that support us- it must mean its sponsored walk time!....Sadly, this year it's not to be once more.

Due to the ongoing pandemic we made the decision to postpone the walk again in the interests of safety, however we hope to return with the event next year...marquee, fine pieces and all! Instead of wasting a fine summers day, the team headed out in socially distanced groups into the Beinn a Bhuird area to practice scrambling on steep ground and also discuss a variety of first aid scenarios at different points.

June ended with the Team being called out to Bennachie to assist with an injured walker. Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 151 attended to the casualty and transported them on to further care.

July saw the team beginning to refresh skills used for rigging a casualty for a lower should they be injured or crag fast on steep ground. This involved three socially distanced training sessions at the sea cliffs as part if week night training, before a full exercise was conducted at a crag on the outskirts of Ballater.

The 17th July saw the team respond to a casualty with a lower limb injury on Lochnagar. The team tended to the casualty and carried them by stretcher to a location suitable for them to be loaded into Rescue 151, which then transported the casualty by air to hospital.
