Lochnagar Training Weekend & Bridge Fixing

March’s training weekend saw the team using their DIY skills before heading up into the Glas Allt to practice winter ropework skills.

During the recent winter storms the bridges at the inflow to Loch Muick has suffered some damage so the team assisted the Estate staff to move the foot bridge back to its proper place to allow access around the far end of Loch Muick.

Following this we relocated up the Glas Allt to enjoy a stunning blue sky day in the snow, whilst practicing winter anchors and cornice / avalanche assessment.  This was finished off by simulating a long stretcher lower down the steep snow slopes back into the Glas Allt.  It was a valuable chance to polish up on skills and work to integrate new team members whilst trying to avoid sunburn.

A number of the team headed back out ski touring on the Sunday to make the most of the good cover.
